About the gallery

Run by artists since 1996, in the old Hotel Jerome

Sixteen local artists created this gallery in June 1996. Today the membership averages around 35, and they still run it themselves.

The gallery's artists gathered on the curb outside the Main Street storefront in Jerome.
Our story

The people working there are artists

The Jerome Artists Cooperative Gallery has been in business in a historic building in the middle of town since 1996. We normally have about 35 local artists as part of our group, each displaying their art, working shifts and keeping our business going. Anytime you visit the gallery, the people working there are artists. Ask about their work!

A wide array of media is represented at the gallery, including jewelry, paintings, clothing, woodworking, ceramics and glass. We are always accepting applications for anyone interested in becoming a member.

Gallery members lined up on the sidewalk outside the red-framed storefront on a bright day.
How it works

Basically a democracy

The gallery is operated by committees that handle all aspects of running it. Each committee reports at the monthly General Meeting, where members stay up to date and vote on major issues.

Since 1996 the gallery has more than doubled in square footage. The members support sales of one another's art, and while working the front desk they meet interesting people and learn about the different mediums.

Trivia from the old Hotel Jerome

We are located in the old Hotel Jerome. Opened in 1917, the hotel is constructed of poured concrete, and it featured some amenities worth a mention.

  • A telephone in every room
  • A billiard room in the basement
  • A shoe shine parlor

…Wherever we go we always look for artist co-ops and are so glad we got to visit this one and walk away with some great pieces.

Some great local art, most a bit rich for my blood, but still neat to see. Very uniquely different artists. Worth a browsing.
